The 2012 Firefighter of the year was presented to Captain Jim Terhaar for his dedicated service to the Silverton Fire District and the communities we serve. Captain Terhaar joined the fire district in 1991. Since that time, he has been a devoted volunteer exhibiting an exemplary attitude. He has volunteered countless hours in our training division and has attended numerous calls for service and other outside activities.
Lieutenant Dan Brown was awarded Officer of the Year for his leadership skills, training abilities and his dedication to the community. Firefighter Josh Wimp was awarded rookie of the year for his academic success and his willingness to help with community service projects throughout the year. Medic of the year went to Captain Ed Williams for his outstanding medical skills and his willingness to respond to calls and attend training events.
Awards for outstanding service were presented to Firefighter Dan Rayburn, Firefighter Austin Kendall and Firefighter Sarah Smith for their dedicated work for the fire district.
Years of service awards were given to Firefighters Rick Heuchert, Ryan Jensen, and Chris Redling for five years and Board Director Bob Van Epps also received a service award for five years. Board Director Nick Robinson was awarded for ten years of service, Battalion Chief Roger Pilmore was awarded for twenty five years of service and Captain Alan Mann was awarded for thirty years of service.

Those members were: Chief Bill Miles, Captain Greg Laird, Battalion Chief Fred Bridgehouse, Assistant Chief Gordy Jensen, Captain Alan Mann, Captain Ed Williams, Lieutenant Elvin Heinz, Captain Ed Bielenberg, and Battalion Chief Roger Pilmore
All of these members have shown great dedication and commitment to the safety of the residents of the Silverton Fire District. We are greatly honored to have them as a part of our organization.
