BEAVERTON CIVIC THEATRE'S 'THE MIRACLE WORKER' WINS AT OREGON'S AAC FESTIVAL

The Beaverton Civic Theatre (BCT) recently won four awards for its version of William Gibson's "The Miracle Worker" at Oregon's American Association of Community Theatre Festival (AACTFest) in Forest Grove.
Beaverton Civic Theatre's Hayley Rousselle (Helen Keller) took home best actress and Doreen Lundberg won for best directing. The production also won best fight choreography and best lighting design.
"The Beaverton Civic Theatre is a very talented group of people and winning these awards just proves what we've known all along," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "Our community is very fortunate to have these gifted performers creating such high-quality productions."
The Beaverton Civic Theatre now goes onto the regional AACTFest in Richland, Wash. at the end of March to compete against community theatre groups from Washington, Idaho and Alaska. The winning regional theatre will advance to the national AACTFest in Carmel, Ind. this June.
The Beaverton Civic Theatre is currently performing "Suite Surrender" by Michael McKeever on weekends through March 16. Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, students and groups of ten or more, and $5 for youth (age 10 and under).
