Gresham, Ore –A fight between two men in January on the MAX platform at 162 and Burnside left one man with stab wounds. Now police are trying to identify two additional men from a video of the fight.
On January 25, 2012 at about 5:18 p.m., Armon L. Jackson,21, and Alex Venagas,37, both of Portland got into a fight on the Westbound platform. A third person is seen in the video intervening and trying to restore peace as they begin to argue. After Jackson and Venagas actually engage in a fight, another person steps off the train and appears to be assisting Venagas. The two combatants are finally pulled apart by the third person who tried to keep the peace and the person who assisted Venagas. Jackson suffered superficial stab wounds as a result and has fully recovered.
Police have not identified either the witness who tried to prevent the fight, or the person who seemed to help Venagas. Detectives are hoping that by releasing the video, somebody who recognizes either person will come forward with information about their identities. The person who attempts to stop the fight is seen wearing the two-color coat with the number "32." The person who appears to help Venagas is wearing a dark leather coat with a hoodie underneath and blue jeans. Venagas is wearing jeans and a mid-length coat, while Jackson, who has a long ponytail, is wearing a sleeveless light colored shirt and athletic shorts. Anyone with information or any additional witnesses are asked to contact Gresham Police Detective Tony Cobb at 503.618.2365. Venagas and Jackson have been contacted. Nobody has been charged as of yet.
Please note—I am going to try to distribute this video via an FTP server. I will email instructions on access and username etc. to the newsroom email inbox. Those instructions should come to you at the same time you receive this
