Clackamas Fire Dist. #1: Clackamas Fire District 1 responded to a house fire at 8001 SE Lamphier Street in Milwaukie, OR. Upon arrival Engine 1 found fire and smoke coming from an upstairs bedroom. Firefighters were able to enter the structure and extinguish the fire before it could spread. Fire was confined to the room of origin and no extension of fire was found. The occupants were home at the time of the fire. They smelled smoke, called 911 and evacuated the home. There were no injuries. Fire investigators were called and the fire is under investigation. Portland Fire assisted Clackamas Fire at the scene.
There were smoke alarms in the home but none of the detectors were sounding. Remember to have smoke alarms outside of sleeping areas and make sure the batteries are checked at least twice a year.
