Oregon State Police (OSP) and Klamath County Sheriff's Office are asking for the public's help to locate a Klamath Falls-area man wanted in relation to a burglary investigation. A Monday night traffic stop led OSP to later identify HOWARD BRANDON HUGHES, age 28, as a suspect in a recent burglary. He has not been found since the connection was made.
According to OSP Sergeant Patrick Trippett, on February 28, 2011 at approximately 10:00 p.m. Trooper Derrek Ellena conducted a traffic stop that led the arrest of HUGHES on unrelated warrants. HUGHES was lodged in the Klamath County Jail and later released. He is described as a white male, 6' tall, weighing 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Information developed related to the traffic stop led to a search warrant being authorized and issued. On March 2, 2011 OSP troopers, with the assistance of detectives from Klamath County Sheriff's Office and Klamath Falls Police Department, served the search warrant at a private residence in the 3800 block of Bisbee Street in Klamath Falls. Investigators seized suspected stolen property including jewelry, a knife, and a savings bond. A rifle and small amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana were also seized.
Anyone with information to help locate HUGHES is asked to call OSP Southern Command Center dispatch at (541) 776-6111 or Sergeant Trippett at (541) 883-5713 ext. 230.
