The companion Blue Healer Australian Cattle dog named "Huckleberry" believed to be with the suspect being sought in the shooting of a Lincoln City police officer Sunday night has been located in the Waldport area. The dog is alive and appears to have been injured before being spotted by a local resident. A Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Animal Services deputy assisted by Oregon State Police SWAT team members enticed the dog into the back of her vehicle and has transported it to a local veterinarian for an examination of an injured left rear leg.

On January 26, 2011 at 11:14 a.m. a homeowner in the 2200 block of NW Pinecrest east of Highway 101 reported seeing a dog matching "Huckleberry's" description in her back yard. Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and OSP SWAT officers responded to the area and confirmed the sighting. The dog answered to officers calling its name.

Officers will be searching the area near the residence.

Suspect DAVID ANTHONY DURHAM has not been located.

No other information to be released at this time.
