Milwaukie Police Department will return money to teens that 'did the right thing'.
Remember the two teens that turned over a large sum of cash they found to the Milwaukie Police Department? On July 16th of 2010, thirteen-year-olds found $442 in cash money on the ground near the Milwaukie Rite-Aid store in the Milwaukie Market Place, 10860 SE Oak Street, in Milwaukie, Oregon. (Milwaukie Police case number 10-2685.)
Michael Howell and Joseph Johnson turned the money over to the Milwaukie Police Department. Per Oregon Revised Statutes, found property valued at $100 or more must be held for a time period of six months. If an owner of lost or mislaid property has not reclaimed money or goods within six months, the finder has the right to claim the property.
Milwaukie Police notified the teens that no credible person came forward to reclaim the lost sum of money, thus forfeiting rights to the property.
Both teens will meet at the Milwaukie Police Department at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2011 to claim the $442 in cash. The Milwaukie Police Department is located at 3200 SE Harrison Street, Milwaukie, Oregon
