To kick off the state's intensified enforcement efforts during Super Bowl weekend, February 5-6, as part of the national "Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk" campaign; traffic safety partners will hold an alcohol impairment awareness demonstration in Keizer. In what is called the "Super Bowl HVE Media-wet lab", volunteers will consume various amounts of alcohol and will be tested by police officers to demonstrate the intoxicating effects of alcohol and how these effects relate to driving. The field sobriety tests to be demonstrated at the event will include the horizontal gaze nystagmus eye test, the walk and turn test, and the one-leg stand test.
The Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) will also be using this opportunity to record the workshop for an "alcohol server" educational video.
