Several organizations have partnered together for this year's Super Bowl High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) Media-wet lab event, including the Oregon Governor's Advisory Committee on DUII, Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST), Keizer Police Department, Salem Police Department, Marion County Sheriff's Office, and Oregon State Police. To kick off the state's intensified enforcement efforts during Super Bowl weekend, February 5-6, as part of the national "Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk" campaign; traffic safety partners will hold an alcohol impairment awareness demonstration in Keizer. The goal: raise awareness about the importance of driving sober so we can save lives.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011
12 noon – 4:30 p.m.
9:30 a.m. – Event kickoff/Briefing with volunteer drinkers
12 noon – Media briefing and interviews with invited guests and law enforcement representatives
1:00 p.m. – Field sobriety demonstrations
3:00 p.m. – Final breath tests and event wrap-up

What:
In what is called the "Super Bowl HVE Media-wet lab", volunteers will consume various amounts of alcohol and will be tested by police officers to demonstrate the intoxicating effects of alcohol and how these effects relate to driving. The field sobriety tests to be demonstrated at the event will include the horizontal gaze nystagmus eye test, the walk and turn test, and the one-leg stand test.
The Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) will also be using this opportunity to record the workshop for an "alcohol server" educational video.
