A Pilot Rock-area man was injured Friday morning after losing control of his loaded log truck on Highway 207 about thirteen miles north of Lexington in Morrow County. The log truck traveled off the highway and collided with a power pole. The truck's driver was trapped inside leading to power in the area being turned off for about 30 minutes during extrication.

According to Oregon State Police Trooper Mark Amos, on January 21, 2011 at approximately 6:50 a.m. a loaded log truck driven by RICHARD L. ROWE JR., age 25, from Pilot Rock, was northbound on Highway 207 near milepost 13 when ROWE reported hearing a "popping" noise before the vehicle veered left. The log truck traveled across the southbound lane and collided with a Columbia Basin Electric power pole before overturning onto its side.

ROWE was trapped inside and extricated by Heppner Fire Department firefighters. He was transported by Morrow County Fire Department to Heppner Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was using safety restraints.

During extrication, Columbia Basin Electric turned off area power because the power lines were entangled with the log truck and trailer.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the abovementioned fire departments, electric company and ODOT.
