The Gladstone Youth Coalition Presents:
"Celebrating Parents and Families"
Family Forum
Saturday, January 22nd
10:30am to 4:00pm
Gladstone High School - 18800 Portland Ave., Gladstone OR.
All Parents Welcome
Dealing with pre-adolescent and adolescent behavior can be a challenge for any parent. At times, it can seem like your child lives in a world of his/ her own facing issues you are not prepared to handle.
There is help. The Gladstone Youth Coalition has partnered with health and wellness professionals to create a forum that will certainly enhance parenting skills. 12 workshops have been designed focusing on topics such as: bullying, stress management, connecting with your teen, communication skills and substance abuse. Best of all, there is no cost to attend the trainings.
Registration begins at 10:30 with the first session starting at 11:00. Snacks and beverages will be prepared by Gladstone High School Culinary Class and childcare is available.
The schedule of events:
Session 1 Options (11-12:30):
- Restoring Shame Based Families
- Are There Gangs in Clackamas County?
- Children, Mental Health and Development
- Teen Choices, Safe Choices, Safe Driving
Session 2 Options (12:45- 2:15):
- Age of Opportunity - Connecting with Teens
- Listening Skills: Foundation for Communication
- Empowering Parents of Today: Preventing Substance Abuse Among our Youth
- Bullying in Schools
Session 3 Options (2:30-4:00):
- 5 Ways Parents Give Up Their Power
- Protecting Children from the Physical & Psychological Impact of Bullying
- Adolescent Addictions
- Stress Management for Families
