Oregon State Police troopers arrested an Amity-area man Sunday night on multiple charges related to the subsequent death of a passenger during a July 24th motorcycle crash south of McMinnville. The suspect was taken into custody after troopers received information that the man was planning on leaving the area to avoid arrest.

On August 1, 2010, OSP troopers arrested GILBERT L. HOKANSON, age 45, from Amity, at a residence he was staying in and lodged him in the Yamhill County Jail on the following charges:

On July 24, 2010 at approximately 1:25 p.m., the victim, TIMOTHY J. HOKANSON was operating the motorcycle with a suspended license.

GIBSON was initially transported by LifeFlight with critical injuries to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. He died July 30th.

HOKANSON was transported by ambulance to Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville for treatment of injuries and was later released.

Both men were wearing protective headgear.
