UPDATE: RED CROSS TO SUPPORT KYRON HORMAN SEARCH & RESCUE OPERATION
Posted: June 10th, 2010 1:58 PM

The Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross will be providing support to the search and rescue operation for missing seven-year-old Kyron Horman, starting this afternoon.

The Chapter is sending an EKRV (mobile kitchen) along with volunteers to serve hot drinks and soup to an estimated 350 workers. The EKRV is located in the rock quarry off of NW Quarry Road.

The ERV (Emergency Response Vehicle) will drop off additional supplies, but will no longer be providing beverages, per the Sheriff's Office request.

The Chapter expects to support the operation with beverages through the weekend.

In Oregon, the American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disaster an average of 10 times a week; supplies more than 90 percent of Oregon's blood; teaches thousands of Oregonians lifesaving skills; offers transportation to seniors and the disabled; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization – not a government agency – and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
