A 24-year old Salem man is currently in custody at the Polk County Jail facing numerous charges related to a June 6, 2010 fatal traffic crash on Highway 223 near Dallas that resulted in the death of a Dallas woman.

BROCK BRITT, age 24, from Salem, was arrested by Oregon State Police (OSP) June 8, 2010 on a Polk County Corrections warrant after he was released from Salem Hospital where he was treated for injuries he suffered in a two-vehicle traffic crash two days earlier. While he was in custody at Polk County Jail, OSP Trooper Jim Andrews contacted the jail on June 12th and advised BRITT he was also arrested and will be held at the jail on the following charges related to the traffic crash:

• Manslaughter in the First Degree
• Manslaughter in the Second Degree
• Criminally Negligent Homicide
• Reckless Driving
• DUII
• Recklessly Endangering Another Person

The charges are related to a fatal traffic crash on June 6, 2010 at approximately 7:26 a.m. when OSP troopers, Polk County Sheriff's Office, Polk County Fire & Rescue and ODOT responded to the two vehicle head-on crash on Highway 223 near Rickreall Road. Preliminary investigation indicated a 1995 Isuzu Trooper driven by BRITT was westbound on Highway 223 when it drifted over the centerline and collided nearly head-on with an eastbound 1999 Chevrolet Suburban driven by LISA KOLOEN, age 54, from Dallas.

KOLOEN was pronounced deceased at the scene. BRITT was taken to Salem Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and then arrested by OSP after his release two days later.

Questions regarding the above-mentioned charges and pending court appearance(s) should be directed to the Polk County District Attorney's Office.
