On June 11th Trost Elementary School in Canby hosted its annual field day where the children get to enjoy some fun-in-the-sun outdoor activities. A highlight to this years event was the unveiling of the results of the Jog-a-thon, which took place on June 4th.
During the Jog-a-thon 400 children from K through 5th grade ran their legs off, raising money for the Trost PTA. More than 5,000 1/4 mile laps were ran by the students, raising more than $3,000.
During the field day celebrations is was announced that school Principal Ricardo Marquez was the loosing Team Captain, and his punishment was three cream pies in the face and a hosing down by the student body with a Fire Hose. The cheers from the crowd started with "Pie in the Face…. Pie in the Face…. Pie in the Face," and then once Mr. Marquez was covered from head to toe with heavy whipped cream the chant changed to "Hose Him Down…. Hose Him Down… Hose Him Down." Students took turns with the fire hose, as a good natured Principal allowed the students to repeatedly hose him down . As Principal Marquez said, "This is their time…they earned it, all $3,000 dollars worth!"
