***ATTENTION MEDIA***: This area of Forest Park is inaccessible to motor vehicles due to a landslide in the area caused by the recent heavy rains. To arrange interviews with PP&R staff, please call Beth Sorensen at 503.823.5300 or at 503.823.6634.

(Portland, OR) – Due to a landslide at milepost 7.11 caused by recent heavy rains, the Leif Erikson Trail in Forest Park is closed between milepost 7 and 7.25. There is no through access at that point for pedestrians, cyclists or equestrians.

However, detour routes have been established (maps attached):

Pedestrian detour: Use Firelane 5-Wildwood Trail-Wire Gate Trail (see map).

Cyclist/Equestrian detour: Use Firelane 5- Skyline Rd-Springville Road (see map).

This section of the Leif Erikson trail was already scheduled for repair during this year's in-water work window and is expected to be reopened by October 2010.
