FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH - HIGHWAY 395 SOUTH OF RILEY IN HARNEY COUNTY

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Burns work site are continuing the investigation and completing next of kin notification following a Thursday afternoon fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 395 about four miles south of Riley.

According to OSP Recruit Trooper Jeremiah Beckert, on June 10, 2010 at approximately 1:33 p.m. OSP troopers and local emergency responders were dispatched to a reported fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 395 near milepost 4. Preliminary investigation indicates a group of motorcyclists were spread out over a couple miles as they traveled north on Highway 395 to a rally in Halfway, Oregon. The adult male victim traveled off the highway shoulder and into a ditch where his motorcycle struck several boulders, fatally injuring him.

The victim was wearing a protective helmet. His name is withheld pending completion of next of kin notification.

Road conditions were dry and the highway was not blocked during the investigation.
