CCSO/Wilsonville Detective arrests two suspected knife robbers
On Thursday, June 10, 2010 at approximately 6:30 p.m., two Hispanic males entered an electronics store in Wilsonville and proceeded to steal a large amount of valuable electronic merchandise.
At approximately 7:38 p.m., the two men pushed their loaded shopping carts outside the business using an entrance door -- avoiding the cashiers and customer exit doors. Loss Prevention Officers immediately confronted the two subjects with the stolen merchandise outside the business.
At this point, both suspects pulled out knives with blades estimated to be each 6" long.
The older of the two suspects was reported to be especially aggressive -- and attempted to stab one of the Loss Prevention Officers in the chest during the confrontation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
This elevated what would have been a shoplifting incident to the significantly more serious criminal offense of Robbery in the First Degree.
The armed-robbery suspects held the Loss Prevention Officers at bay while the stolen merchandise was removed from the shopping carts and placed into the suspect vehicle. The suspect automobile is described as a dark-green 4-door Kia Spectra with the rear license plate removed.
As a result of this ongoing investigative effort and the generous news broadcasts of the quality security images featuring these two suspects, late Tuesday afternoon a Detective representing the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office -- Wilsonville Police Department -- arrested two males believed responsible for this armed robbery event reported in Wilsonville, on June 10th.
In response to this recent news coverage, this Wilsonville investigator has received additional tip information and inquiries from at least three other law-enforcement agencies here in the Portland metropolitan area. It appears at least one of the two armed suspects arrested today may have a direct link to several 'additional robbery events' recently reported here in the metropolitan area.
This Wilsonville (CCSO) Detective is presently sharing the most current robbery information acquired with these three other police agencies. This collaborative effort is to determine if one or more of these two arrested is responsible for this newly recognized string of armed robbery events.
The two suspects arrested are identified as:
1. Tio Carvajal Hernandez, 21, NW 15th St, Gresham, Oregon.(Photo Attached)
Tio Hernandez has been arrested and lodged in the Clackamas County Jail with the following charge of Robbery in the First-degree.
Tio Hernandez is scheduled to be arraigned today on this criminal matter in Clackamas County Circuit Court, Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 3:00 p.m.
2. Alex Ramon Garcia, 16 (Juvenile), SE 190th, Gresham, Oregon.(Photo Attached)
Alex Garcia, a juvenile offender, has been taken in custody and lodged in the Donald E. Long Detention Facility, in Portland. Garcia has been lodged in this facility with a charge of robbery in the first-degree.
Alex Garcia is scheduled to appear today in Multnomah County Juvenile Court on this criminal matter June 16, 2010, at a time to be announced by the Multnomah County Juvenile Court.
