On January 9, 2013 at approximately 7:45 a.m., Vancouver Police were notified by the owner of the tandem bike that was stolen on January 7, 2013 that the bike had been returned to their home with note from the alleged thief stating they were sorry for stealing the bike. The suspect was not seen and has yet to be identified.

The Vancouver Police Department is continuing the investigation into the theft and the return of the bike does not impact the active investigation.

The community outreach to the victims in this case has been nothing less than inspiring and the Vancouver Police Department would like to extend a thank you to the media and the community for their involvement in getting information about this incident out. The widespread attention to these crime victims may have contributed to the momentary activation of the suspect's conscience, however the goal of the Vancouver Police Department is to make an arrest in this case.
