SINGLE VEHICLE TRUCK CRASH LEADS TO DEATH OF MEDFORD MAN

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into a single vehicle traffic crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 83 about three miles north of Glendale that resulted in the death of a 71- year old Medford man.

According to Sergeant First Class Jeff Proulx, on January 10, 2013 at approximately 11:40 AM, a 2013 Freightliner commercial motor vehicle driven by Bruce Merrill, age 71, from Medford was northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 83 when for an unknown reason, crossed over the southbound lanes, through a ditch, and struck a tree. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OSP troopers from the Grants Pass worksite are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Safety restraints were used. There was no roadway closure.
