GRESHAM POLICE ARREST BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT

On January 5, 2013 at 1129 hours, Gresham Police were called to the Sterling Savings Bank at NE 181st Ave/E Burnside after employees called to report that a robbery had just occurred at that location. During the robbery, the suspect handed the teller a note demanding money. No weapon was implied and an undisclosed amount of money was taken by the suspect. While Police responded to the area, a witness stated that the suspect had been seen entering a business across the street from the bank.
Police located the suspect, 36 year old, Andrew Bassett of Portland, inside the business. Bassett fought with Police upon being contacted. He was arrested and lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center.
