At 7:55 am this morning firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the report of a house fire in Aloha. Dispatchers at the Washington County 9-1-1 Center reported receiving several calls that the home, located at 16679 SW Rosa Rd., was heavily involved in fire. First arriving crews from Station 67 in Beaverton reported heavy fire from the rear of the structure, and were able to quickly confirm that there were no occupants inside the residence. Firefighters initiated a defensive attack on the exterior of the home, and then transitioned into an offensive interior fire attack. The occupants, who were renting the home at the time, told fire investigators that they believed the fire started on the exterior of the home, and reported seeing fire on the back deck of the house before safely escaping.
Firefighters had the fire, which caused extensive damage throughout the home, knocked down within 15 minutes. Smoke and flames likely spread quickly throughout the house due to the influx of air when the back patio door was blown out by the fire. The exact cause is still under investigation. The occupants of the home are being assisted by the Red Cross with temporary housing needs. They did not have renters insurance.
