Posted: January 14th, 2013 4:38 AM
On January 13, 2013 at approximately 9:13 pm, deputies from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence near Meridian Road and Whiskey Hill Road in rural southwestern Clackamas County. The Sheriff's Office had received a dispatched call regarding a man making suicidal threats with a gun.
Through multiple sources the deputies learned the threats were credible. The suspect was reported to have multiple weapons and had armed himself. There were other individuals who lived on the property, both in the same residence and in a detached residence.
Initially the Sheriff's Office responded with patrol deputies and a police canine but then determined the need for the response of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) and the Hostage Negotiations Team (HNT). Both teams responded to the location to contain and attempt to resolve the situation in a safe manner.
On January 14, 2013 before 2:00 am, due to his actions, the subject was shot by a member of the SWAT team. Shortly after being shot, the subject was taken into custody. The subject was transported to an area hospital where he will be treated for what appears to be a non-life threatening injury.
The residents at the location had been evacuated and no innocent bystanders or deputies were injured during this incident. This incident is currently being investigated by detectives from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and other local agencies. Further information will be available once the investigation is complete.
