BEAVERTON'S NEIGHBORS SOUTHWEST NAC HOSTS COMMUNITY MEET AND GREET ON JANUARY 16
Posted: January 7th, 2013 1:21 PM
The Neighbors Southwest Neighborhood Association Committee (NAC) is hosting a community meet and greet as part of its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 16 beginning at 7 p.m. at Nancy Ryles Elementary School (10250 SW Cormorant Drive).
Anyone who lives or represents a business, school or other community organization in the NAC area is invited to attend. A light dinner will be provided and RSVPs are required.
"It's because of Beaverton's active neighborhoods that our residents have such a strong voice in our community," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "I encourage you to get involved and be part of our city's future."
The meet and greet will provide an opportunity for participants to learn more about the various ways to get involved in the NAC and the resources available.
Everyone who attends is asked to visit several "speak out" stations around the room to develop ideas for the neighborhood to focus on in 2013. The "speak out" stations include volunteer projects and community events that participants would like to develop, transportation challenges to be addressed, ideas for strengthening the monthly meetings, the identification of preservation and improvement areas of the neighborhood, and any other ideas that participants want to pass along.
Please RSVP by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11 with Jason Wachs, neighborhood program coordinator, at 503-526-2543 or by email at jwachs@BeavertonOregon.gov. ABOUT THE NEIGHBORS SOUTHWEST NAC
The Neighbors Southwest NAC is one of eleven NACs formally recognized by the city of Beaverton that works alongside city staff to identify issues, solve problems and develop community-building activities and events. The boundaries of the neighborhood are approximately SW Weir Road to the north, SW Murray Boulevard to the east, SW Barrows Road to the south, and the city limits to the west (around SW 165th Street). The Neighbors Southwest NAC worked closely with Gramor Development, the Commercial Real Estate Developer responsible for Progress Ridge Townsquare, to ensure that the local community had an outlet to voice concerns and provide feedback as the project moved from a design concept to the final product. The NAC is also responsible for the annual Neighbors Night Out Event held at Big Al's each August.
The Neighbors Southwest NAC meets on the third Wednesday of the month at Nancy Ryles Elementary School (10250 SW Cormorant Drive) at 7 p.m. Neighbors Southwest residents are encouraged to come share ideas, discuss neighborhood issues and engage in neighborhood problem solving.
