TVF&R CREWS QUICKLY EXTINGUISH FIRE AT TIGARD RESIDENCE

At approximately 5:15 this evening, a Tigard resident fled her home with her animals and called 9-1-1 from a neighbor's house to report a Christmas tree fire in her home.
Upon their arrival just a few minutes later, TVF&R crews heard smoke alarms sounding and discovered heavy smoke inside the residence. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly and limit damage to the home. Red Cross is on-scene and assisting the resident with shelter and immediate needs.
A TVF&R investigator has determined the cause to be an electrical short that occurred near combustible materials, including an artificial Christmas tree.
