Deputies Seek Public's Help in Locating Violent Fugitive
On December 17, 2012, at about 12:51 p.m., Sheriff's deputies were called to a disturbance at The Shilo Inn located at 9900 SW Canyon Road, Portland, in the community of West Slope. Deputies arrived to find that a 31-year-old woman had been attacked by her estranged husband, 34-year-old Aaron Bryce Griffin.
According to witnesses, Mr. Griffin came to the hotel looking for his estranged wife and her male companion. He used a pry-bar tool to attempt to gain entry to the hotel room through a hallway door. He was unable to open that door and went around to an exterior door, which he was also unable to break thru. He then smashed out a window with the pry-bar tool and entered the hotel room.
Mr. Griffin attacked his estranged wife and her friend with the heavy steel pry-bar tool. Her friend was able to escape, but Mr. Griffin grabbed his wife by her neck and dragged her out of the hotel room. Outside, a bystander heard the commotion and saw Mr. Griffin dragging the woman along the pavement. The 23-year-old man said he saw Mr. Griffin dragging a woman across the parking lot and then try to force her into his car. He said he wasn't sure if Mr. Griffin was armed or not, but when an opportunity came for him to intervene he took it.
While Mr. Griffin was struggling with his wife, they fell to the ground. The Good Samaritan grabbed Mr. Griffin, held him down, and told the woman to run. Once she ran back into the building, he let Mr. Griffin up and backed away. Mr. Griffin got in his car and drove away. The woman sustained deep scrapes and cuts to her knees and elbows, and multiple bruises over her body.
Mr. Griffin stole the green 2003 Dodge Durango he was driving from the car dealership where he works. The Oregon license plate on the SUV is DA4029BS. In the last two weeks, deputies have not been able to locate Mr. Griffin. He has not returned to work and reportedly not contacted his family. Sheriff's deputies are asking the public's help in locating Mr. Griffin. He is currently wanted on several felony crimes, including Burglary, Assault and Kidnapping.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of Aaron Griffin please call the Sheriff's Office at 503-629-0111 or 911 if you know his immediate location. You can remain anonymous.
