RINGING IN THE HOLIDAY SEASON IN GRESHAM - ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING EVENT ON ARTS PLAZA

Gresham, Ore. - On the first Saturday in December, Gresham will ring in the holiday season with the 21st annual Spirit of Christmas tree lighting event on Dec. 1. The event starts at 5:00 p.m. and the 60 ft. ponderosa pine tree will be lit promptly at 6:00 p.m. after a music filled program.
The program includes performances by East County's Got Talent winner Bo Baskoro, the Dickens' Carolers and the Gresham Christmas Choir. Santa Claus will also make a special appearance to hand out candy canes and help lead the countdown to the tree lighting.
Event attendees can expect refreshments of hot cocoa and cider, cookies and popcorn provided free by event sponsors ServePro of Gresham, Greater Gresham Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and Gresham Ford. Other event sponsors include Gresham Downtown Business Association, United Rental, TriMet, and The Sign Shop.
The event includes a food drive to benefit SnowCap and the public is encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation barrels at the event.
The Spirit of Christmas also features activities hosted by local business and organizations including:
10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. - Photos with Santa, Gresham History Museum
11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. - Children's Cupcake Decorating at Bella Cupcakes
6:30 p.m. - 8:20 p.m. - Christmas Jazz Music at Café Delirium
7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. - Christmas Jazz with the Time Paxton Quartet at the Hoppy Brewer
