ODOT: Valley, No. Coast: Two sections of U.S. 101 in Clatsop County remain either closed or restricted due to weather-related issues. U.S. 101 four miles north of Gearhart is closed after a tree fell across powerlines. Also, the highway remains restricted to high profile vehicles (trucks) just south of Seaside at Beerman Creek due to high standing water. There is at least 12 inches of water on the roadway. No cars are allowed. Trucks must travel no more than 5 miles per hour. The area around Beerman Creek floods periodically during periods of heavy rain and high tide. Motorists traveling today should use extra caution as they may encounter downed trees, limbs,and other debris. Also, high standing water is a likelihood in many areas because of the heavy rainfall and leaves and debris on the roadways. Plan on leaving extra time to travel and be prepared for winter driving conditions.
