FATAL VEHICLE / PEDESTRIAN CRASH - HIGHWAY 730 IN IRRIGON AREA

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Sunday afternoon's fatal crash during which a 28-year old female from Irrigon died after she was struck by a vehicle on Highway 730 just west of the city limits. The victim died shortly after she was transported to an area hospital.
According to OSP Trooper Anthony Atkins, on April 18, 2010 at approximately 3:45 p.m. a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica driven by JULIE ANNA AVILES, age 38, from Boardman, was eastbound on Highway 730 near milepost 174 near 2nd Street W. and 3rd Street W. when a woman stepped from the south side of the highway into the vehicle's path. AVILES attempted to avoid the woman but was unable to do so before hitting her.
The woman, identified as FAWN ELIZABETH IRONBEAR, age 28, from Irrigon, was transported by ambulance to Good Shepherd Medical Center and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
AVILES and two juvenile aged child passengers were not injured.
OSP troopers from the Hermiston and Pendleton offices are continuing the investigation.
Morrow County Sheriff's Office, Irrigon Fire Department, and ODOT assisted at the scene.
