The suspect, Peter Benson, 55, was taken into custody without incident and is being booked into the Clark County Jail on Assault I.

There were no injuries as a result of this incident. No further information will be available this evening.

Mr. Benson will make first appearance in court on Monday March 30.

On March 27, 2015 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Vancouver Fire department personnel responded to a call of a fire in a yard at a residence in the 5300 block of NW Esther Street. When Fire personnel arrived the male resident went inside the home and pointed what appeared to be a long gun out the window. No shots were fired and there were no injuries.

Vancouver Police as well as SWAT personnel are on scene attempting to get the suspect to surrender. Multiple homes around the suspect residence have been evacuated and multiple schools in the area are in lockdown or are preparing to send students home for the day.

No additional information is available at this time. The media staging area will be the Corner of 53/Franklin. PIO is on scene.
