PF&R RESPONDS TO REPORTS OF AN EXPLOSION INSIDE A SE PORTLAND HOME

Around 5:15 this afternoon Portland Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to the 8300 Block of SE Knapp with reports of a house fire. En route, crews were given additional information that there had been an explosion. Upon arrival crews from Station 11 found a 25-30 yr old male in his front yard with 2ND Degree "Black Powder" burns to his face and chest. This patient has been transported to Emmanuel Hospital.
Other than residual smoke from the explosion no fire hazard was found.
A Portland Fire Investigator is at the scene of the explosion trying to determine the exact cause.
