A California man is facing felony marijuana-related charges following an Oregon State Police (OSP) traffic stop Thursday in Lake County in which a trooper found approximately 8 pounds of marijuana concealed in a vehicle. The OSP Drug Enforcement Section is continuing the investigation.

On October 23, 2014 at approximately 2:27 p.m., an OSP senior trooper stopped a 2011 Chevrolet four-door passenger car displaying California license plates northbound on Highway 395E near Lakeview for a speed violation. The trooper identified the driver as LAWARENCE ANTHONY COSTA III, age 29, from Albion, California.

Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop led the trooper to discover approximately 8 pounds of marijuana concealed in the trunk. Estimated value of the seized marijuana is $20,000.

COSTA was later cited and released to appear in Lake County Circuit Court for Unlawful Manufacture, Possession, and Delivery of a Controlled Substance - Marijuana.
