At 7:06 PM on December 20th Canby Fire units were dispatched to a Motor Vehicle Accident involving a motor vehicle and a Metro West Ambulance at the intersection of Knights Bridge Rd and S Barlow Rd.
When Fire Crews arrived they observed a badly damaged vehicle off the roadway and a Metro West ambulance with front end damage that had struck a power pole. There were energized electrical power lines lying on the Metro West Ambulance and around the immediate incident.
The two Metro West medics were out of their ambulance providing care to an injured adult female, who was the driver of the sub-compact Honda. The Ambulance was returning from an area transport and both medics were in the front cab when the accident occurred...there was no patient in the ambulance at the time of the accident. The victim in the struck vehicle was transported to OHSU with serious but non-life threatening injuries by a Canby Fire Ambulance. One of the Metro West medics was also evaluated and transported to an area hospital for a possible injury.
Because of the extensive nature of the electrical hazards PGE provided crews for mitigation of the electrical hazard and to manage traffic in the area. Clackamas County Sheriffs Office is investigating the accident.
