Have you ever wondered what would happen if a disaster occurred in our area? Who would be able to help you if emergency services were not able to respond in a timely manner? Are you the kind of person who likes to help others in a crisis?
The Canby Area CERT team, or Community Emergency Response Team, is a group of citizens, who work or live in the Canby community, trained to assist should a disaster occur. The members of the team receive basic training in Fire Suppression, Light Search & Rescue, Disaster Psychology, Disaster First Aid, and more.
The team is looking for fresh faces to join their ranks. A CERT Basic Training class will be held over the course of 3 Saturdays - September 8, 22, and 29. The classes run from 9 AM to about 5 PM each of those days, and will take place at the Canby Fire District Main Station, 221 S Pine St.
For more information, or to sign up for the class, please contact Ron Yarbrough at 503-263-7411.
