DEATH INVESTIGATION - HIGHWAY 101 NORTH OF BROOKINGS

Oregon State Police (OSP) and Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office are continuing the investigation and completion of next of kin notification into the suicide death of an adult male found Friday morning in a pickup parked off Highway 101 south of Pistol River State Park on the southern Oregon coast.
According to OSP Trooper David Wehner, on July 30, 2010 at approximately 10:45 a.m. Oregon State Parks and Recreation employees discovered a deceased man lying in a makeshift camper on the back of a silver 2003 Nissan Frontier pickup displaying Hawaii license plates. OSP troopers responded to the scene about 50 yards off Highway 101 near milepost 344 and confirmed the 62-year old man was deceased. A suicide note was left at the scene. The pickup was not visible to passing traffic on the highway.
OSP has contacted Virginia State Police for help in locating next of kin.
