Climber Falls On Mt. Hood Clackamas County Sheriffs Office Enroute

CLIMBER FALLS ON MT. HOOD CLACKAMAS COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE ENROUTE

There is an active search and rescue on Mt. Hood for a subject who fell approximately 1000 feet when he was 500 feet from the summit. The individual is conscious and breathing and other climbers are with him and injuries are unknown at this time.
Clackamas County Sheriffs Office Search and Rescue Team are responding to Timberline and they will be determining the best course of action to get the individual off the mountain.
The individual fell in to a crevice but was brought up by other climbers he currently has been roped up and is on an unstable rock face at this time.
Portland Mountain Rescue has been called and a determination will need to be made as to whether or not a helicopter will be needed to perform the rescue.
